About DAIO

Decently and in order.

That’s what DAIO stands for, and it’s how I think the people side of a business should run.

My story

I started DAIO because I love helping people build and grow their businesses the right way: in an orderly way, and by the book.

I’ve spent my career on the people side of growing companies. I started in recruiting, moved into HR, and for the last several years I’ve helped one company through the stages where the people side tends to break: the first handbook, the first hard termination, the first time a great employee becomes a struggling manager. I’ve also built a complete HR foundation from nothing for a new healthcare staffing agency.

“Let all things be done decently and in order.”1 Corinthians 14:40

The name comes from a verse I’ve carried for a long time. Decently, meaning people are treated right. In order, meaning things are built properly and nothing important is left to chance. I’ve never found a better description of good HR, and this work is how I put my God-given talents to use for other people.

You don’t need to share my faith to work with me. You only need to want the people side of your business handled with care and with structure. If that’s you, I’d like to hear what you’re building.

How I work

I learn your business first.

Good HR advice depends on what you’re trying to build. I ask about that before I ask about your handbook.

I do the work with you.

You won’t get a binder and a goodbye. You’ll get things your managers can use on Monday.

I’m honest about limits.

If you need an attorney, a payroll provider, or a recruiter, I’ll say so and point you to someone good.

Your wins are my wins.

I take on a few clients at a time because I want to care how each one turns out.
